My story
I began my career playing with words at major fashion and cosmetic companies, but when I started a family, I naturally skewed into writing about kids. I wrote an award-winning book on children’s activities and held key editorial roles at Parents and Nick Jr. Family Magazine. In addition to establishing leading toy features at both publications, I constantly pushed the boundaries between old school and new concepts and created strategic editorial partnerships.
In 2007, I cofounded Sandbox Summit, a ground-breaking idea forum that explored the synergy between play, learning, and technology. This new multi-discipline symposium disrupted single focus conferences, proving collaboration drives innovation. From 2008 to 2016, Sandbox Summit@M.I.T attracted thought leaders, do-ers, and dreamers across multiple platforms. That spirit of collaborative play continues to drive me. In 2015, I became a member of HATCH, an international group of influencers inspiring positive change. Playing with this esteemed network has solidified my belief that every good idea leads to another.
Since 2016, I’ve been a creative consultant, helping companies find the fun, future, and financial profit in what they do. I’ve worked on dozens of concepts for established toy and media companies, as well as non-profits centered on mental wellness, startups in gaming, fashion, and consumer products, a sales force seeking to engage its team through play, and an AP literature class aiming to create a board game based on Ian McEwan’s Atonement. I am a Play Ambassador for the Toy Association and regularly contribute to The Toy Book.
My takes on everything from writing copy to developing products to establishing bold partnerships are always bolstered by diverse collaborations, insightful research, expert input, hands-on experience, and a playful voice. I’m never happier than when I have a keyboard under my fingers and an aha! moment on the horizon.
